There are over 450 varieties of lavender.
Lavandula angustifolia, is commonly known as TRUE lavender.
Lavandula latifolia, ia SPIKE lavender.
They are similar and yet very different.
I use Lavender to nourish my skin and soothe the mind, whilst enjoying it’s beautiful aroma.
Spike lavender is the variety to reach for movement. Focus and concentration.

So what makes these Lavenders different?

It’s all to do with Essential Oil Chemistry.

Spike Lavender.

Spike lavender prefers to grow in the low ground.
It has a high level of camphor and it has been used to treat various ailments since the advent of time.
It is much more a stimulating lavender.
Emotionally, Spike Lavender Essential Oil is more energizing and stimulating than is true Lavender Essential Oil. It promotes concentration and focus more than does true Lavender Essential Oil. Spike Lavender Essential Oil is much better suited for use as an expectorant and for easing aches and pains. Spike Lavender can be used for pain relief, as it has excellent analgesic properties.
Spike lavender is great to use after a workout, hiking or muscle aches.
Mix with Lavender and a carrier oil like jojoba for a good massage.
True Lavender
Has a wonderful floral, fresh smell. It is woody and herbal.
True Lavender is most versatile, nourishing and calming.
Known to encourage sleep.
I reach for True Lavender when I want my mind and body to relax.
It helps to soothe burns and reduce scars.
Great for daily skin care.

Safety considerations: Don’t leave home without it.!!
