Top Essential Oils for
Anxiety and Depression

Anxiety and Depression can be very disabling conditions when they continue over a long period of time and is stress related. The causes are multiple and need to be explored. You have to get to the root of the problem, not just cover them with a band-aid.

The World Health Organisation has stated that it is the second most preventable disease.

1 out of 7 people will suffer symptoms at some point in their life.
Conventional medicine is very addictive and can lead to other health issues. 
There are times when conventional drugs may be necessary and you should never try to wean yourself off them without the help of your doctor.
There are things you can do to help lift your anxiety.




1. Eat a clean well-balanced diet. Talk to your doctor about Vitamin B, vitamin D. Magnesium and Omega 3. These supplements can help raise your mood and energy.

Avoid sugary and processed foods.

2. Exercise.

Every little helps as exercise it sends powerful messages to your brain cells. Exercise is proven to build new brain cells.
Maybe take a short walk at least 3 times a week to get started.
You can make weights by filling plastic bottles with water.
I say this MANTRA to myself when exercising:
I am building new happy brain cells.’
There are so many options for exercise. Try to see it as an essential part of your treatment.

Treat Anxiety with these Essential Oils.

Here is a list of the top anxiety essential oils to use as part of your regime.
  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Vetiver
  • Ylang -ylang
  • Roman Chamomile
  • Bergamot
  • Frankincense
  • Rose
  • Melissa
It is best to blend the oils with your favourite carrier oil.

Has a calming and relaxing effect.
Helps with a feeling of inner peace and sleep.
Soothes irritability, nervous stomach, panic attacks, and nervous tension.
I use this when I have a dentist appointment!!



Rosemary  


Rosemary is known for giving mental focus and clarity.
Also an anti-inflammatory.
Helps give a feeling of being energized.
Use it in the mornings in your diffuser to help get energy flowing and clear your mind.


Rose.

Useful for emotional stress, shock, and grieving.
Very precious and expensive.












Vetiver



Vetiver is a little less known but it is a powerful oil.
Know as the oil of tranquillity.
It has a grounding and reassuring energy.
It helps with self-awareness, calmness, and stability.
Often used to help ADHD and bring calm, especially to children.
Sometimes there are things you may have lost touch with a long time ago. Vetiver root oil is great for helping you ‘dig to the roots’ of your heart( PAGE 123)



Another great oil for panic attacks and shock.



Ylang ylang



Ylang ylang is calming and very uplifting.
It is known to help with cheerfulness and soothes fearfulness.

Bergamot



Bergamot helps to reduce depression and anxiety.
Great oil to blend with a carrier oil and apply to body.







Roman Chamomile



Decreases overthinking!!! irritability and worry.
Can be applied to the neck, chest or wrist.
A great oil to help when meditating as it helps quieten the brain.
Something we all need in today’s society!






FrankincenseƧ




Known for calming inflammation.
Works well with meditation and contemplation.
Place Frankincense around the eye, (not in!!!) forehead and base of neck. This opens the brain drainage pathway.



Melissa



This is the most expensive oil but it is emotionally uplifting.
Needs to be used with caution as it is a very powerful oil.

Battling anxiety and depression on a daily basis is a heavy load to bear.
As with many diseases we need to reduce the inflammation in the body.
Try this to help reduce inflammation and produce calmness. Put these oils in your diffuser: orange, lemon, grapefruit, and neroli.
The citrus oils are very uplifting.
As every single body is different, some oils work better for one person and not another. It’s great to experiment and find the oils that best suit you.
As always have reverence to these oils as their natural components are a very powerful gift.
